*** 4 MONTHS AND STILL NOT FIXED ***

It looked like my .ico file worked when I first stuck its URL into the code, but then the favicon vanished and didn't return (the test gif I also posted on my site still works fine, though);  favicons tend to have a "lag" with Safari, so it's possible that it NEVER worked...  at least with Safari.  It's also possible that something "broke" right after I used the URL.

Is this site able to host ico files such that they can be used normally with all major browsers?  Is there something special that needs to be done to get it to work?  Is something "broken"?

Thanks!!

    Because of the download page here that got messed up because the file technically isn't a image. I can fix it for you but it will mess up its viewing here if you where to click the file here you would have to go through a separate step to download it. is that ok with you?

    Sure!!  I can't view it from within my account anyway!!  Thanks!!  :-)

    The good news is that I now have a thumbnail for the .ico file, and clicking that brings me to a page with a big blown up image of it-thanks!!

    The bad news is that the favicon still doesn't work, and if you try to open its URL in a separate window you get a blank window and a download of the file (which is what it did before, just FYI)...  and normally, the URL for a favicon gets you the favicon.

    Could you please take another whack at it?  Thank you!!

    PS  I stuck the URL of that same favicon from another storage site into the code, just to be sure Blogger isn't to blame, and it works perfectly.

    By any chance is the fav icon bigger than 10MB, that is the limit for the download page also.

    No, it's just 24 KB.

    How are you placing it on your site? Like what is the code?
  • Omniverse (04:45AM Jun 29,2008) (Controls: Report)
    I use the standard code for favicons

    <link rel="shortcut icon" href="URL">

    where "URL" is the one for an ico file;  this code works perfectly with an ico URL from another storage site, but not with the URL for the identical ico file stored on this site.

    Still can't download any zip files of mine using Internet explorer 7. If I need any files I have to use netscape.  I miss the old uploadingit.com. *sighs* Good thing I have netscape.
